My current work features tremendous change in both the style and the subject matter. Four consecutive deaths brought my subjects quite literally, to earth. My feet hit the frozen ground and the subjects were now very tangible, specifically symbolic, and representational in the paintings. I was no longer able to give voice to cities in the clouds, breaking apart architecture anachronistically to structure a new place. I am more concerned with meeting my loved ones again through the interplay of expressionism, impressionism and a semi-abstract realism. I feed my yearning, my affection for them and my need to communicate and relate to them without words. When I paint my departed ones, I can touch them still.
