Colosseo
I created this painting upon returning from a trip to Rome and I experimented with the media a bit, combining ink and oil paint. The quick drips work in the arches of the Colosseum and the pure canvas beige remind me of the dust and age this space collects and scatters about y our feet as you ascend its steps. This painting is an homage to enduring beauty and the human spirit. For a building that is so massive and was home to great battles, both invented and born of primeval, the history, awesomeness and strength of the Colosseum is an experience that one never forgets. I suppose this painting is an answer to the question, when in Roman, can you bring Rome home?
