Paris street, (study)
Like many Americans, the city of Paris stole my heart on my first visit. My first trip resulted in a large body of work that employed colors more frequently scene in the tropical paintings of Paul Gauguin. In this painting, from a later trip, I worked worked from a photograph I took while living in Paris. This particular composition is a smaller study of the larger, Paris Street. The palette of this study features a complimentary scheme of corals and Prussian blue - one of my favorite blues because of its luminosity and versatility. The larger Paris street, invokes a more Fauvist palette that I tend to favor for all the things and places I love.
Oil on canvas, 18 × 12”
