Petra
In this work on paper, I depict the rock city of Petra in Jordan. The rock-cut architectural details of Petra fascinate me, especially for those of us who often find ourselves confined by glass and steel structures. My love affair and deep appreciation for architecture—whether Classical, 2nd Empire Baroque, or otherwise—continues to inspire me. I created this drawing based on the most common view of Petra to highlight the facade’s striking symmetry and the warm rosie-yellow stone.
Oil crayon, graphite and watercolor on paper, 30 x 22”
