Sacre Coeur
This is an abstraction I created based on the Sacré-Cœur Cathedral in Paris. Expressive and warm, I depict the cathedral in brilliant jewel tones instead of its usual sparkling white marble. I love the dome of Sacre Coeur and inthe interaction of the hard rectangles and the soft arches that repeat throughout the architecture. This painting is a bit of a nod to the American painter, Wayne Thiebaud in terms of the way I handled the paints. It feels to me like I could also have been thinking of cake while painting this little one.
Oil on canvas, 12 ×16”
