Notre Dame, acrylic, conte and graphite on Punjabi paper, 30 x 22”
After completing my Master of Fine Art, I spent a few quiet months living in Paris, often sitting directly on the cobblestones with my watercolors, gouache, and a little bowl of water by my side. One of the most tender aspects of the city, to me, was how the residents of Paris never appeared inconvenienced by an artist working in the street—they simply walked around me with grace. I painted this original Notre Dame painting while seated right in front of the towering Notre Dame de Paris, absorbing its presences and the rhythm of the city. This mixed-media painting on paper captures that moment of stillness and reverence, and yes—I eventually bought a small pillow for my aching knees.
