La Neuf (Marais) is an original oil painting inspired by the quiet charm of the Marais district in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris—one of my favorite places to paint. Number 9, a peaceful little home there, stirred something in me, and I painted this piece with the hope that someday I’ll get to live in one of these serene spaces, even just for a few months. I wanted to capture the stillness, the light, and the gentle rhythm of the architecture in this impressionist cityscape. My brush moved as quietly and softly as this - one of Paris’ oldest neighborhoods.
